The Friday caller

There’s often a story with the Friday caller and it’s not just the restrained panic in their voice.

Resume writers all over the world get them and they know exactly what the prospective client wants.

They want a resume (and usually a targeted cover letter) written for a job that either closes at 5.00pm that day or else on the following Monday. The curious thing is, I’m closed on Fridays but still they come.

They’ve just seen the job and they’ve left it too late. But they must absolutely have the resume – within 24 or 48 hours, even if I have to bump off six or seven clients.

Early in the week I can usually do a Fast Track draft but not on Friday for 5.00pm COB.

I always have clients who are way ahead of the them in the queue. Clients who have paid.

Here’s a fact. People who leave job applications to the last minute rarely get interviews.

You can hire William Shakespeare to write the resume and cover letter but it will still suck. Why? Because both the writer and the client are rushed.

Friday callers go through to message bank because I’m helping clients who have thought ahead.

Weekend work for rushed resumes? Never happen.

Try a franchise or a backyard typist.
