Solving work problems – put them in your resume

As Adelaide resume writers, we see scores of resumes which have great design, great formatting and look a million dollars.

The problem is that when you dig down, they’re just list of duties and responsibilities copied and pasted from a job description.

This is disheartening for employers and recruiters. The reason is they write job descriptions. They know the standard duties of an accountant, mechanic, engineer, etc.

That’s why including in short paragraphs, your problem solving ability is crucial.

It might look like this:

Researched and installed a new office accounting software system, which increased worker productivity by seven per cent per annum.

Much of the work we do is problem solving. It can be helping to solve staff issues (so important), using basic maths on building sites, overcoming WH&S issues and more.

Where possible, put two or three examples of problem solving in your resume.

But don’t forget to include the result, which in the above case, “increased worker productivity by seven per cent per annum.

  • A short note to thank Adelaide recruiters and employers who have sent us clients during the Covid-recession. We know how hard it is letting staff go but we will work overtime to make sure they get the best resume possible to maximise their employment chances.
