It pays to use a professional

Cost analysis of hiring a professional resume writer

Let us do a quick cost analysis.

One notable aspect about being a professional writer, is the angst people go through over price.

Some top line writing companies charge more than $1000 for a resume.

I charge in the $200-$400 price range but a full executive CV will cost more.

Let’s do a quick ‘value for money’ calculation.

A professional resume writer – not a back yard ‘shonk’ or AI slop program – will increase your chances of being short-listed by around 30-40 percent.

Of course, you need to be in the ‘ball park’ in the first place and meet the basic criteria for a job.

We’ve had people wanting us to create an IT manager resume when they’ve never worked in IT.

Let’s say the job pays $80,000 per annum and a resume costs $250.00.

For .25 per cent of your yearly salary, your chances of being short-listed, may increase by up to 40 per cent.

You have leapt over scores of other candidates and now you have a shot at the big prize.

But a professionally written resume doesn’t stop working for you there.

If the selection panel can’t make up their mind between you and another candidate, they go back and compare the resumes. The best resume wins.

On a cost basis, can you afford not to hire a professional resume writer?

I recently had an IT specialist want to move from an oil and gas company to BAE.

He was on a $100,000 per annum. His new salary was around the $160,000 per annum mark. Would he pay $350.00 to have a crack at the big time?

He thought $350.00 was too much.

Another prospective client assessed the professional writing competition, and hired me for the same job, which appeared 18 months later.

He was short-listed and killed it in the job interviews. He moved from a salary of $110,000 to $172,000.

It pays to get the odds on your side.

Outstanding experience

I was in the process of moving jobs and reached out to Republic Resumes to help me with building a brand new resume based off an old draft from many moons ago.

Working with Malcolm made this process seamless. We started with the original base draft which included what my previous employments were, skills acquired, licenses etc and in particular what was the job I was aiming for. In this instance particularly targeting the mining / drilling industry.

With Malcolm’s insider knowledge and doing his own research on this particular field / industry, we bounced this key information between each other to add to the resume. Through speaking with me he picked up on qualities that he could see from not only as someone who builds resumes to a professional standard on a regular basis, but from an employer’s perspective as well. These qualities were added and noted to the resume.

I believe that the resume that I received through Republic Resumes from Malcolm was one of the pivotal things that helped me land my new job working as a Driller.

The Final product was fantastic not only in terms of presentation of the resume but down to the professionalism of the information that was on there. I received the final product in both Word Doc & Adobe PDF Format which then I can add directly to my Seek profile or print at my own leisure.

To wrap things up he also threw in an Interview Skills Booklet which was most handy, it had been quite a while since I’d been in that position and the information was most helpful.

Highly recommend Malcolm for anyone who is considering getting their resume done professionally.
